Alpaca fleece, or simply alpaca, is the fiber harvested from alpacas, which are domesticated specie of South American camelid. Alpaca has a long noble tradition. The Incas, who referred to alpaca as “Fiber of the Gods", were perhaps the first to elevate alpaca to luxury status, limiting its use to Inca nobility. Alpaca is naturally hypoallergenic and comes in the widest range of natural colors, from off-white to brown, with a variety of grays, and beiges.
Alpaca throw blankets top our list of fall and winter luxury essentials. Undyed alpaca blankets are great alternatives for people with wool allergies or sensitive skin.
